SWIMMING.

Tie final of the 75yde Oitristma* Handicap of the Christdmrch Amateur Swimming Club, which waa postponed owing US the absence of one of the competitore, wae , flwum on the 4th inst., the following being the result:—First, P. Bundle; second, L. Gee; third, D. Sinclair. A committee meeting of the Ohristchuroh Amateur Swimming Club wae held yesterday. Present—Meaers P- Hanrey (hi the chair), Buchanan, Foster, Harrison, Cooper, Bain, and Holderness. Four new members were elected. Arrangemente were made to get the ladies' club in proper working order before the end of the season, and the secretary wae instructed to see to this, and write to all ladies interested. Arrangements were made for the quarter-mile race, to be held in the Eetuary on the 2oth.inet., and the Sydenham Club will be notified to that effect, as the two clubs intend holding their quarter-mile races on the same day. A meeting of the Committee of the East Christchurch Swimming Club was held last night. Mr-A. Gafivert was in the chair. The hon. secretary reported having received a record entry for the annual carnival, viz., 251, including competitor from all parte of the colony. It was decided to award Mr J. P. Drake's upeoial prize to tihe club member ecoring the most number of poiofe in the handicap event*. Fina2 arrangements were made for the carnival 4o be held on Saturday. The lady supporters of the club wrote offering to dispense afternoon tea to competitors. A hearty vote of ihanks was paeeed to the foUowine-. for donations: —Steers J. P. Drake, H. Berry, and A. Calvert.
