Several members attempted unsuccessfully to reopen the question, the Chairman dieallowing further reference, but subsequently he said he would like to reconsider tbe position. The question of tihe union of the churches was considered. The Rev. Mr Saunders moved—.'That this Council records the profound pleasure it felt on receiving the comxniUee appointed by the General Assembly to seek union with , the Congregational and Methodist churches expresses its very sincere appreciation of the truly Christian spirit that hee led to tfie overture beiij made, and hereby pledges Heelf to the immediate appointment of a committee to meet and co-operate •with the Presbywian committee and with the Methodist com mittee should it be hereafter set. up."
