ALLANDALE LEICESTER STUD

SUCCESSFUL SHEEP SALE.

The -well known Leicester flock of Mr J Little, Allandale, entered at Hawarden yards for sale yesterday, attracted a large number of breeders. Mr Little, who hails from the Pentland Hillsj came out to Otago in the sixties to take the management of the late Dr. Webster's sheep flock at Corriedale, and Mr Little claims to have founded the Corrieda-e sheep breed. On taking up Allandale at Waikari, twenty-four years ago, he followed up the experience gained in his early sheep farmingl work, and about eleven years since, making selections from Mr C. T. Newton's Leicester flock at Stoke Grange, of some of Mr Every McLean's Leicesters, and from the Hon. Ernest Gray's stock, as well ac ewea imported from Mr Jordan, Dnfneld, Yorkshire, he laid the foundation of the Leicester flock which has won many prizes in the show yard, and gained several champion prizes. The eale of the stud sheep, which was conducted by Mr C. E. Calcutb, was a procounced success. The Farmers' Cooperative Association and Loan and Mercantile Company" were associated as auctioneers, , and Messrs Isbieter and El-is cold for the first-named linn. 1 he lots sold, ware as follows, the buyere belne veil distributed: — Kficien-r, live-shear, *>y AUandale-tored BheeD, dam Gray ewe— siiM-p by iloon Ray. firs; prizo Eo*'sei R-"d nrss fourtooth Chnsiohurett chow, vi guineas, Air l>.
