ARBITRATION COURT AWARD,
(PBES3 ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, February 10. The Arbitration Court's award , in the dispute 'between the Stationary Traction and Engine Drivers' Union, and the Employero grades drivers into four classes— (1) Those with a first-oka* certificate of competency; (2) first-class certificate service ; (3) second-class certificate of competency; and (4) eeoond-olase certificate "f service. A week's work is not. to exceed forty-eight hours, exclusive of time for getting up steam. No discrimination clauses are substituted for preference to unionists. An employer may arrange- the working of Ms weekly hours by day or night, according to exigencies of business, ana the overtime rate shall be paid for all hours in excess of foaty-eight, except where the work is the necessary consequence of breakdown. Tlie minimum wage fixed for fiwt-olase competency is 10s per day, firstclass service and second-close competency % per day, ami eecond-ckss service 8s per day. The award applies only to men who have oeiltificatee under tho Inspection of Matehinery Act. Locomotive and 1 traction engine drivers are not included.
