RESOLUTION BY AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE BOARD.
At the meeting of the Canterbury Agricultural College Board at Linccn yesterday the Chairman, the Hon. E. C. J. Stevens, said! that for many years the late Hon. W. Rolfceton had been identified with ihb institution, and one member of his family hud bewi a successful student there. Mr Rolleston had token a great interest in the College since its inception, and ite success in the pa-st had been in a large measuredue to him. ' He thought the Board would like to pass a resolutiwn in recognition of what Mr Rolleston had done there, without making reference to his services as a public man. He, therefore, moved: —"That this Board plaote on record ita sense of the valuable services rendered to this institution .during many years by the late Hon. W. Rol'luston, and resolves to express to hie widow and family ite deep sympathy in their bereavement-" Mr D. McMillan, seconded the motion, and s.iid it had , been hia privilege to be a meinbi'r of the Board with the late Mr RoCleston, andl he could testify to the interest ho had taken in the Institution, and especially in the matter of scholaiships. Mr M. Murphy said tlna colony had sustained a heavy loss in the death of Mr Rolleston. He had always taken, a great interest in agricultural and other branches of education, and he was in fact its champion. The resolution was passed by the members standing.
