EYRETON

At the Eyreton Road Board meeting there were present—Messrs James Wright (chairman), Evans, Kelly, and Skevington. Letters were read from Mr D. Buddo, JIHE, enclosing a telegram from the Minister of Lands in regard to payment for work done in the river Eyre previous to authority being given, and requesting th» Board to name five gentlemen as members of the Ohoka and Eyreton Domain Board, as the former Order-in-Council. as gazetted an October 16th, 1902. had been cancelled. It was resolved—"That this Hoard promoted the petition recommending Messrs Burgin and Wright to be appointed in place of Messrs Hopkins and Shepherd, •md it sees no reason to alter its foimer recommendation, as gazetted on October 16th 1902, that Messrs Water Chapman, Robert William Chapman. Richard Evans, Thomas Burgin. and James Wright constitute the Ohoka and Eyreton Domain Board" The clerk was directed to ask for an explanation why the former Order-in-Council had been cancelled. Mr Horace Neeve wrote, consenting to the proposed bank being constructed on his huid at "N'eeve's Ford. Mr M. J. Dixoii, in reply to the Board's letter of December 2nd, 1892. wrote declining to contribute, as promised, towards works for turning the Eyre Hood water into the new cutting, as the work was not done jn the way he proposed, and threatened to hold the Board responsible for uny damage done to Miss Rosa Dison's land. Mr A. E. G. Rhodes wrote stating that he had received instructions from Miss Dixon to hold the Board responsible for any damage her land might sustain through the works carried out by the Board. Dr. Parsons reported a case of scarlet fever in a house ou Moody's road. It was decided that 10 per cent, should be charged on all rates not paid beiore March £lst next. The Surveyor was directed to give Mr R. A. Dixuii)notice to clean out the creek below Hayward's road, so an to prevent the water backing up to the approach to the footbridge.
