United Press Aj»ocifttioa—By Eleotrio Telegraph—Copyright. MR JAMES GLAISHER. (Received February 10th, 8.52 a.m.) LONDON, February 9. Mr James Glaieher, meteorologist and aeronaut, is dead, aged 94 yeare. [Mr Jas, Glaisber was born on April 7Ui, 1809. At the age of twenty he was appointed assistant to the Ordnance Survey of Ireland. From 1833 to 1836 he waa assistant to the Cambridge Observatory; from 1836 to 1840 assistant at the GreenwicU Observatory : and from 1840 to 1874 Superintendent "of the Meteorological Department. Ho was the founder of the Royal .Meteorological Society. In 1866 he made his famous balloon ascent, reaching seven mike, the pivateet height on record yet attained. His principal works were "Hygrometncal Tables," "Travels in the Air," ••Factor Tables," etc.]
