BOARD OF CONSERVATORS.
Th« Board of Conservators met yesterday. Mr R. W- England was in tis» chair. Mr Teryman moved—"That Mr R. W. England be re-elected- chairman." Mr SamneLs seconded the motion, which' was carried. A repoit on the etate of the river by the ovemeer was read, furnishing the cosi of the works at Mason's Flat, which amounted, wk'h land, etc., u> some £340. The report was adopted. Mr Carpenter moved— "Tfa&t the grit prt at Cheney's Corner be offered to Mr Ditfort at £/15 per annum." Mr Glanville seconded the notion. An amendment moved by Mr Samuels, seconded by Mr Gapes, to* tlhe effect that the reserve be offered to Mr Ditfoit at <bhe eama prioe, was agreed to. The Seiwyn County Council wrote stating that the Council intended constructing a, race through a portion of the reserve of the Board, and desired to have the lease of 640 acres- Tfie secretary Teported that the reserve had been rented by the Council at 2s 8d per acre per annum. ' The action of the Chairman and secretary was approved. It was also resolved that Mr Jeal superintend: the cutting of the willows along the Hue of the race. Mr Carpenter brought under the notice of the Board the necessity of their looking alter tire new country w&ich. had been vested in the Board. It was resolved that the overseer inspect the new reserve, and report at Bs*t meeting. It was also ■decided that the Board should pay a visit to Maeone Mat and the reserve in a fortnight, and that the Ohairman also interview tie Land Board.
