CASUALTIES.
A young man named Arthur Surridge, painter, residing &t Temuka, wae drowned on Friday in tbe Milfond lagooon. Deceased was with a fishing party when the boat capsized. Being unable to swim, lie quickly disappeared, and was not seen again. An inquest was held at the Mitre Hotei, Lyttelton, on Saturday, before Mr R. Beetbam, coroner, into the d.ath of Arthur James. In accordance with the evidence given, the jury returned a verdict that deceased died from injurke to h* bead, probably caused by a fall from the wharf to the deck of the launch Lyttelton.
