AMATEUR ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION.

'MEETING OF DELEGATES.

Tlie delegates of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association met at the Hereford Hotel last night, -when there were present Messrs J. F. Grierson (South Canterbury), in the chair, F. T. Evans (Dunedin), H. S. Batchelor (Pioneer), C. T. Aschman (South Canterbury Schools A.A.A.), J. W. Davis (Wellington), W. G Atack (Wanganui), H. Curtis (Aahburton), A. O. Keating (Post and Telegraph), R. Vincent (ManawatuJ", W. Tonks (Auckland), »J. R Morrison (North Otngo), C. East (Canterbury College), G. B. Itkchie (Auckland), Dr. Thomas (Ashhurton Publio Schools), and Mr A. L. Styche (hon. secretary).

Tlie Reinstatement Committee recommended that the application of Andrew Criohton, of Duuediu, be declined. ' The recommendation wtts adopted. The Chairman reported" that .the Committee appointed to deal with' the question of Harrier Clubs had decided that such a Ciub was one which held paper chases and cross-country races only, and that the subscription of such Clubs should be not less than £1 Is per annum. Some discussion followed on the status of Harfifer Clubs allowing professionals to compete at their runs, and Mr Atack moved, that men who have forfeited their amateur status should not be debarred from taking part in tlie Club runs of Harrier Clubs, provided that such men did not belong to the Club, and that the runs were not competitions.. This motion was seconded and carried by eight votes to six. It was resolved that Mr W. L. Hooper should be asked to continue to act as local consul at Dunedin until after the championship meeting. The Canterbury Railway Athletic Club applied for affiliation to the Association. Consideration of the application was deferred until the receipt of a copy of the rules and the list of members. The secretary was instructed to write t j local officers in the centres, asking them to call meetings of representatives from the Clubs in each district to form centres. The secretary reported that the championship shield was nearly ready, and the chairman and secretary were directed to have tho names of previous winners an* their points inscribed on the shield.
