MEETINGS, ENTERTAINMENTS, etc.
The annual gathering of the memibers of the Ashiburton Fire Brigade took place in the eutgine room oa Wednesday evening, when there was a full.attendance. The Mayor (iMr W. H. Collins) occupied tlie chair, and aimongst other visitors were Mr J. MoLacMan, M.H.K., Mr D. Thomas. Cm. G. W. Andrew*, H. Davds, H. M. Jones, and H. Willis, Captiln A. A. Fooks, Caiptain Clark, Lieut. !?chwartz, Sengt.-Major Gibson, ex-Fireman J. Miles, J. Hyphens, E. Higgins, Messrs H. A. Gates, aod H. Stephenson. A nuuaber cl toiwts were duly honoured, and songs sung by Lieut, Schwartz, Messrs Stephenson, Miles, Thonxis, Higgins, Stephens, BakeT, and Hilgrove. Captodn Barber was presented with a. long service gold bar. Duiilflg tho evening complimentary lefercncee were made to Engineer W. E. Dolman, who has been ajpoin-ted engineer to ithe Christcnurch Fire Brigade.
