Btavdiey, who -was unable to be prfeent on account of family bereavement The chairman expressed the general regret that waa felt at losing Mr Moon, and presented him, on behalf of a large number of subscriber*, with a gold sovereign case and matchbox combined, and a puree of sovereigns. Ml Moon said he had always done Jus best to givo as fair report* as possible, and thanked alKthose who had kindly given him information. He thanked them yew heartily for the gift. Mr Mcon'e health and future success was then drunk with musical honours. On Tuesday evening Mr James butaerland, who is leaving the Culveiden dietrict, was pi«sentedi with, a \ gold watdi guard with suitable inscription. Aft the annual ■distribution of prizes to the Merivale Sunday School children on Tuesday evening, tho Rev. Mr Gossett, on behalf of the children and teachers, presented the Superinte&dsnt. Mr A. Allen, -with a handsome gold albert ond cross. The cross bore the following inscription: — "Presented to A. Allen by the children and teacher* of the Merivale Sunday School In renognftion of 26 years' devoted service. Constable Trehey, of the local police staff, who ha* been transferred to Dennieton, was presented with a travelling bag last night by Iris felUmr members of the force.
