TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS-
Sir, —I quite agree with your correspondent. "Only a. Subscriber," re the allotment of this fund, and have drawn the organising secretary's attention to the snme in your columns as far back as October 24th. 1901. . The chief work of this fund is, I understand, to be the extension of the Church's work into newly settled districts, and to the maintenance of that work in the many districts which are as yet unable to meet, without help, the expenses mci- ' dental to active parochial organisation. Another object of this fund is the furthering the religious education of the young. I think more attention should probably be given to this object than i« at present the case. If such large district* (and well-to-do at that) as "Only a Subscriber" statee, are helped from this fund, then the extension of the Church into new districts must suffer, and if such districts cannot provide (or will not) a proper stipend for its clergyman, there must be a reason for their not doing ro.—Youi*, etc.. A CHURCHMAN.
