THE FINAL STEPS
In the event of Sydenham deciding in favonr of amalgamation it will be of interest to state the further stops that have to be taken before the union of the boroughs and the city is completed. Sub•jctipn o qf section 15 of the Municipal Uiiporations Amendment Act, 1902 proVides:— ' l
It the result of the poll is in favour of the proposal, bnt jiot otherwise a petition shall, within thirty days after the taking of the poll, be presented to the Governor by the Councrl of the borough in' yhKh the poll was taken, praying that such bormighs be constituted one united ooiough. The Governor then, by proclamation, way coiHtitule such boroughs one borou2ii by such name as is assigned thereto by •ucb proclamation, and such several borwigns shall thereupon become and be sued one borough accordingly under this Act. (Municipal Corporations' Act, 1900. Sub«ction 3, section 177.)
