The outbreak of plague, combined with the abnormal heat of 115 degrees in the shade ov the goldfields, has caused the premature break up of the party of Federal members organised by Sir W. J. Lyne with the dual purpose of gracing the opening of the Coolgardie water works and improving their minds with .reference to the outlying State of the Commonwealth. The majority Lave hurriedly departed homewards. Sir W. J. Lyne and Sir John Forrest remiin to combat Mr Reid, who is conducting an active Freetrade campaign.
