r The annual meeting of members of the (Association was then held. The balancesheet stated the receipts to have been £257 6b Id, leaving a balance to credit of £146 Oβ 2d. There was a balance of £4480 10s Id to the credit of the assets. The report of the Committee stated that little had occurred during the year to call fen , much notice. The Committee had carefully watched the trend of labour legislation in connection with local industries. Efforts were made with the assistance of the Canterbury members of Parliament to obtain some reduction in the much vexed question of railway rates between. Christchurch and Lyttelton, -without much success ; end the Committee had suggested that with the Chamber of Commerce, further combined action should be taken in this matter. Mr J. L. Scott was again nominated as one of the directors to represent the Association on the Board of the Hull in which this Association was so much interested. It was with regret'that the Committee had to record the resignation of Mr W. R. Mitchell as one of tne honorary auditors of the Association. The Committee were invited to participate in the Greater. Christ church' movement, and had pjenenre in doing so. The Industrial Scholarahips In connection with the School of Art had been continued, and the usual competition hod taicen place. The important question of Technical Education was referred :to in the last report. Since then, further progress had been made by the election «f a Board of Managers, who are bow busy preparing a scheme which it is hoped will result in increased opportunities for the further education of young workers. :i:Tba /President (Mr Mineon) moved the adoption of the report end baJanoWbeet, end gave an addrese dealing with the work of the Association during the year. Mr It. Allan seconded the motion. He lelt that the industries of tie colony were on the up grade. Tie President deserved credit for the way in which be had carried cut hie duties, and he (the speaker) thought much might be done in the chape of en. couragfng the industries <>f the colony. The motion wae then put and carried. The offioera of the Association were elected as follows:—President, Mr W. Mhaon (re-elected); vice-presidente, Messrs J. C. WiQdn and W. Sey (re-elected 1 ); hon. hweurer, Mr W.- W. Charters (re-elected); General OmmiMee, Means B. Allan, G. T. Booth, A. W. Beaven, J. A. f'roetick, J. h. Scott, T. N. Horsley, J. Horeley, K. E. —cDougaß, J. R. Triggs, J. Ihincan, Jti. Buchanan, H. Hepburn, G. Anderson, G. J. Smith, W. Congreve, G. R. Hart, A. H. Hancock, and J. Maddten. Votes of thanks were passed to Mr G. J. Smith for acting as auditor, and he was re-elected: Mr Chartei's, lion, treasurer; iwi Mγ W. R. Mitchell, for the valuable jervicfle"rendered by him to the Association. On the qoeetion of amalgamating witij tho EmployCTS , Aaeociation, Mr Trigge moved that no further steps be taken in lite matter. Mr Bochanan seconded the motion, which -wae agreed to. It wbs resolved tiat the' amount of rent [£20) charged to the Technical Board of Managers be returned in the chape of reholarshipe
