SYDNEY, January 30.
Woolford, the groom at the hotel at which Constable Long was murdered, and who was arrested, has made a written statement to the effect that on the night of the murder he met Grand and another man named Jones. They arranged to rob the hotel, but he refused to take any active part. He watched outside, and saw Constable Long enter. He heard a shot fired, and Grand and Jones rushed out, and escaped in a sulky they had waiting.
