DOMAIN BOARD.
The. annual meeting of the Domain Board was held yesterday. I'ws-ciit —Mr H. P. Murray-Aynsley (cliairman). Hon. C. C. JJowen, the Mayors of St. Albans and Linwood, Messrs R. Wc-stcnra, Staples, Jacqiics, and Murj)hy. A letter was received from Mrs Harman acknowledging the vote of condolence passed by the Board on the •deaih. of her late hti»band. The annual balance-sheet wae read, showing the total receipts, together with £18 8s 7d from Inst year, to have been £1002 12s Bd. There was a balance of £46 17s 6d to credit. The assets amounted to £1548 10» and the liabilities were nil. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the oalaiu'e-s'heei, taid tuiat all the liabilities vi) to iiK> end oS last year, includinir £109 17<? liabilities due on 31st December, 1901, were met, and the Board commenced tho present year with a credit balance of i! 46 17s 6d. Since the beginning of the month they had received from the Domain Trustees £300, payable, to the Board out of the tiust fund by Act of Parliament, and a'.s-o £«0 from the Government for money expended up to 31st March, 1902, for labour in connection with the Magnetic Observatory. There wa» still a claim against the Government for £70 15s in connection witih expenses incurred lor the Royal visit in 1901, besides additional claimed by the tenants of the park.*, which they had requested tie Board to add to their account, which latter amount would hare to bo handed over to the tenants when receiver!. Xot having received tho £70 odd forced the Board last March to reduce the labour employed in the Domain by two hands-. 'J'h-re also had been a. delay in getting the £500 from tae trust, owing to t<he trustees having to wait for a mortgage to <be paid oft". The Executive Committee had accepted a tender for repairs to gates and a new bridge, amounting to £45. 'fbe.ro would also be. £20 to be paid when the work was completed towards connecting the footpath from tie Armagh (street bridge to the Fendalton bridge gate. Tho balance-sheet was adopted. The annual report of the Head Gardener was brought, up, and ordered to be sent with the balance-sheet to the Minister for Lands. The report dealt with the operations during the year, and stated that the number of treee foiled had been 225 sycamores. Mr H. P. Murray-Aynsley xraa re-elected as Chairman for the year. The Executive Committee was appointed as under:—The Chairman, the Mayor of Christehurch, ex otiicio, Hon. (J. C. Bowen, Messrs Murphy and Gape*. The Board agreed to meet on Monday next, at 2 p.m., at the. Hospital Corner, t<) inspect the trees, with a view to thinring.
