THE VOLUNTEERS.

BATTALION CAMP. On Monday the volunteer companies participating in the Battalion camp, were exercised in extended order work, scouting, skirmishing, and changing front. The main guard was formed from G Company, and the orderly officers fox the day weiv Lieutenants Mathi&s, F Company, and Hail, G Company. Next for duty, Lieutenant. Millar, G Company, and Lieutenant Smith, M Company. A fair proportion the tents was pitched yesterday morning, and the remainder were erected last night. The Cycle Corps has laid off seven or eight distance wkih range-liuders, and this moming the men will be exercised in judging distaute practice.

Owing to the continuance of bad weather the orders issued for last night were caneelkd. Dry ft raw was; provided for the whole of the battaaon. A carefully arraiiged series of milkary sports will be Ijssld. on Saturday afitrnoon, and en Sunday at 3 p.m. Divine service will be conducted at tiu camp by the Iltv. Bisii.jp Julius, chaplain of the battalion. The battalion will bwak camp at 6 p.m. on Sunday, when tents will be struck, and tij*e m«n marched bock to headquarters. The remainder of the week wi:i be spent in practising outpost work in detail, officers commanding corps having full instructions in regard to details. Tfos orderly officers for to-day are :—Lieutenant Miller, G Company, and Lieutenant Smith, M Company; next for duty, Captain Fisher, I Company, and Lkutanant Holdtrcess, F Company.
