SCHOOL OF DOMESTIC INSTRUCTION.

Ibe. annual meeting of the Association tor th« Promotion of Domestic Instruction was held ye.sterday afternoon in Hobbs's Buildings. Dr. Anderson was in the chair, and read several apologies for absence.

The report and balance-sheet showed a satisfactory year's progress. It was stated that- cooking hid continued to bold a foremost- place in thf wnrk of the school, itnd a large number of pupils had received instruction in that important subject, 'lhe. attendance had been ;us folio wo :—Technical classes—First quarter 142, second 158. third 64, fourth 104; school classes—First ouarter 237, rsecond 63, thud 225, and tourth 511. In the early part of the year there appeared to be some danger that the school would lose the services of Mm Gardner, but new arrangements had been made, which it was hoped would render the Principal's duties less arduous. The laundry and dressmaking classes had ako done good work. The question of accommodation had ajjtiin been a pressing one during tlie year, and, unfortunately, no so;ution of the diftieultv had been arrived at.

Mrs R. D. Harman reported that she had held the usual examination in cooking, and had found the work of the classes uniformly good. Eighteen students had come up for examination, twelve passing vtiY creditably. Tlil> names of tho.-o obtaining certificates -were Nellie Hamson, Alice O*boni, Jenny Beck. H. Kennie, Margaret Menzi*.*, Annie Menzuw, Amy Allay, Rosaline Anderson. Marjory Williamson, Lottie Black well, Henrietta Kime, ;md Myra Hargreaves.
