(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAM.) WELLINGTON, January 23. The following are the vital statietioa (or he month of December:—
The total births in the four principal borougiis amounted to 486 against 426 in November, an increase, of 60. Tfie deaths in December were 234, an increase of 66 on the number in November. Of the total deaths, males contributed 141, females 113. Eighty-four of the deaths were of children under five years of age; being 35.07 per cent, of the whole number, and 57 of these were und«.>r one year of age. There were fifty - four deaths of persons of 65 years and upwards. Ten men, 67 (two). 68. 71, 72, (three). 75, 80. and 85, and one woman, 75, died at Auckland. Eleven men, 66, 67, 69, 70, 71, 72. 73, 76, 79, 82, 92, and three women. 67, 70, and 74, at Wellington. Seven nwii, 67, 68, 70, 75, 76, 80, and 82, and three women, 66, 69 (two), at Uhrietfchurch. Eleven men, 65. 67, 69, 71, 75, 76, 79, 83 (two), 85. and 88, and eight women, 66, 68, 70, 71, 77, 78, 82, and By, at Dunedin.
