THE LATE MR LANCE.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE TRESS. Sir, —It lias long been felt that there should be some permanent and suitable memorial in this district to the late -ur
Lance, of Horsley Down. It has now been dteided that this memorial should take the form of a stained glass east window in the Church of Ascension, Wai kari.
The cost of carrying out the design of Messrs Powell and Son (England), the .subject of which is the Ascension of Our Lord, will be about £200, inclusive of duty. This, it is felt, would be a worthy memorial of him who was a true friend of all, ana so generous a benefactor of this district. While confident of α-esiwnse in the dis trict, I should like to make the matter known, through the columne of your paper, to a. wider circle of his friends, that they also may share in this opportunity of paying honour to his memory. Contributions may be sent to J. Douglas, Esq., or J. G. S. Tonkin, Esq , Waikari. —Yours, etc, W. WALMSLEY SEDGWICK. The Vicarage, Waikari, January 25th, 1903.
