ATHLETICS.
MEETIXG AT LANCASTER PARK. The Pioneer Amateur Bicycle and Athletic C:ub held an evening meeting- at Lancaster .Park last night. The track was a trifle sodden and -heavy after tho recent rain. The following are the results: —
220 yds—C. S. Harper <9ydu) 1, F. S. Hariey <9yds) 2. T. 11. VVorg«n. (Byds) 3. T. W. Wiee 3yds. N. Wood Byds. M. E. Wood 9yds C. A. Cooper 10yds. W. Wallace 10yds, and A. S. A]lard 18yds also started. Hnrley, with the insife running, rushed to the hend ot the field. Having a lead of four or five yards turning into tho straight. Thirty yards from home Harper came wihh a good run, winning by two yards. Worgaiv being beaten by inches «t the finish by Harley for second place. Time, 24 4-sth sec.
Putting the Weight—W. O. Bradley (ecr) 36ft lin 1; M. E. Wood (2ft 6in), 33ft 10* in, 2; F. S. Harley (4ft), 33ft 10in, 3. F. W. Wiee (4ft 6in). C. S. Harper (4ft 6in) also competed. The ground wa.3 too greasy and not holding enough for good putting. Half Mile—A. I. Allard (55yds) 1, W. F. Simpßon (scr) 2, G. A. Martin (50yds) 3. Allard made the pace the whole way, the heavy going being «dl in hi, 8 favour, eventually winning by five or six yards. Simpson again showed his pace at the finish, coming with Flewellyn at a great run the last two hundred 1 yards. With fifty yards to go the order was Allard. Worgan, Martin. Fleweliyn, ard Simpson. Simpson just got 11; fro.-;t cf Martin on the post, Worgari a/.'l F ewellvn juut behind Martin, a 6j)'indi.j Or.ish for gecci.d place. Time, 2min 9 l-sth sec.
