United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright. THE VICTORIAN PROBATE BILL. (Received January 24th, 9.27 a.m.) MELBOURNE, January 24. The Probate Bill, recently rejected by the Council, has been re-mtroduoed in the Assembly- The Treasurer stated that it was an essential part of the financial proposals, and unless it were passed, it would be impossible for the Government to carry on. He also announced that there was no intention to include mining companies under "tobe proposal to collect income tax from dividend-paying companies. VICTORIAN RAILWAY EMPLOYEES. A meeting of railway employees decided to uphold the right of affiliation to tne Trades Hall, contending that it is not ,-• political body. THE MURDER OF A CONSTABLE. (Received January 26th, 1.10 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 25 Two arrests have be«n made in connee tion with tlie murder of Countable Long, who was shot dead at Auburn, N.S.W.. on January 19th in an hotel by burglars, whom he surprised while they were ransacking the hotel bar. TRAGEDY AT BOTANY. A tragedy occurred to-day at Botany. A Chinamau named Ad Kin, annoyed by boys pelting him with stones, stabbed one of them, named Pugsky, eevering the mam artery. The boy died in a. few minutes.
