Canon MacMuaray was a passenger from Dunedin by Saturday night's express.
Mr lidward Lloyd, the famous tenor, who is to visit New Zealand at the end of this year, will leave London next month, and remain in Australia until September. Then ihe will spend three months in the United States before coming to this colony.
A presentation was made on Saturday to Mr Wiahart, a member of the "Press*" Company's jobbing staff, on the occasion of his approaching marriage, by his fellow employees. The presentation, which consisted of a silver cruet-stand and cream
Professor Kernot, the holder of the Engineering Chair of Melbourne University, lias been in Greymoutli on a short holiday, the guest of Mr J. Thomson, the Government District and Harbour Board Engineer.
At the recent University examination Miss Geitrude M. Smith, pupil of the Sisters of Mercy Collegiate School, Colombo street, passed the medical preliminary examination.
Mr J. B. Fisher returned from Wellington yesterday. Mr F. Waymouth has been nominated for re-election as of the 'Lytteltcn Harbour Board, representing the borough of St. A?tbans.
Mr Dusrald McPherson was a passenger by the Rotomahana for Wellington on Saturday ni|Bl.
Captain Butman and Mr E. Tregear were passengers by the mail Bteamer .Sierra for San Francisco.
The following pupils of the Sacred Heart School, Barbadoes street, taught by the Sisters of the Mission, passed the matricu lation examination:—Misses Lizzie- Brick, Mary Gabriel O'Connor, and Rose Hynea.
Mr Fred Duval, for many years in advance of the Pollard Opera Company, and for the past two years connected with the management of Mr P. R. Dix'a theatres, has accepted the position of touring manager of Mr W. Anderson's Dramatic Company during ite colonial tour. Mt and Mrs R. Moore left Kaiapoi for Auckland on Saiurdav.
Dr. Murray, of Kaiapoi, returned from Auckland on Saturday.
