, SYDNEY, January 21. At -he wool sales competition for all gocd classes was very keen, and pric.R were firm. Scoured sold to 25d, a record for the season. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received the following cable -mes-age from their London offioe:—"The wool rales opened firm on par with last sales closing 'rate..- There was an average advance of 5 per cent, for all descriptions of merino, and' fine and medium crossbred, and 10 per cent, for coarse crossbred." Messrp Dalget-y and Company, Limited, have received the following cable message from their London office, under date January 20hh :—"The first series of wool 'rales par with last sales* closing rates. There was a large attendance of buyers, and competition was animated. As compared with closing rate, of last series, prices,are on the average at par to 5 per cent, higher for m-erino wools, 5 per cent .higher for fine crossbred wool., and 10 per cant, higher for medium and coarse crossbred.
