INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.

United Press Association—By Eleotrio Telegraph—Copyright. (Received January 22nd, 1.12 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 21. The cycling carnival concluded to-_ay. Great interest was taken in the international championships, and the attendance numbered 25,000. The match between Gudgeon and Walker to decide who was to meet Major Taylor, resulted in a win for Gudgeon, who, making a phenomenally fast finish, beat Walker by a length and a quarter in 2min 3 2-sth sec. Gudgeon then tackled Major Taylor. The first event, a mile paced, was won by Taylor by three lengths in 2min 2 2-sth sec. The second event, a mile tmpaoed, Taylor won by a similair distance in 3min 12 3-sth sec. The winner held Gudgeon easily, and displayed magnificent fonm He received an ovation. Taylor also won the Taylor Plate, Wake being second, and Walker third. {____ners ran second to Taylor in his qualifying heat. Some first-class riding was done by W. Martin and! G. Sutherland behind the motors yesterday at la-toaster Park, and it i-a very evident that the public will see Very fast time put up in the motor-paced 'between these two riders next SaturPark. Both riders will endeavour to break the existing Australasian twenty-mile record, at present held by Martin. Martin rode a mile behind his French motor yesterday morning in lmin 3__ec, while Sutherland, paced by Messrs Best and Town© _ motor bicycle, also regd-tered first-rate time. Amongst the entries for the other events are such wellknown riders as J_arker, Amos, Huston, H-Band, _nd Watson, while Pedlar Palmer will also compete in both cash events. The first race will start at 2.30 p.m., and Berry's Band will be in attendance.
