ROAD BOARDS.

RICOARTON. m *k.t a meeting of the Riccarton Road * Board all the members were present-. The notice of motion by Mr Derrett, to divide the district into wards, was allowed to stand over until next meeting. The nam ing of roads in the district was gone into, and n&mes of roads agreed to, with one or two exceptions. An application was Msoeived from Mr Purdie for formation of path and channel on east sidle of Idris ■treet, for house drainage purposes. The applicant isvto be informed that the Board could no* allow bouse drainage to run on to the road. The hon. secretary of the ■Belfast lOeanetery Committee asked the IBoard to assist the committee in procuring a cemetery for the district. The conunatftee ie to be» informed! that the object has .the Board' , s approval, and will meet with, its euppoptt Mr D. Craw waited upon the Board, and offered £3 for the right to cut grass seed on the roads in the district. The Board decided to accept the offer, but could take no responsibility with respect to destruction, or loss of eeed. Mr Haneon stated that a number of birds' eggs had been hrought to him, and he asked what the .Board intended to do with respect to the purchase of birds' eggs and heade. The Chairman stated that as far as he could see the Board could dp nothing; the County Council would not allow the Board to expend any portion of the unexpended balance of the bird rate in ihia manner, end by the Act of 1902 the responsibility of destroying small birds now rests on the Council. It vrus decided to procure one of Mr F. Horrell's bird traps for ratepayers' inspection. The Board authorised the formation of a footpath <$n Clarence road, opposite the workshops.
