PRESIDENT CUP MATCHES.

The Midland and Rivals began a match at Sydenham, when the former gained a slight advantage on the first innings. Scores: — Midland 90 (Gray 26, and Nicoll 23, not out); Rivals 74 (Mummery 18, Hoare 11, Fox 11, and Baker 10). In their second innings Midland scored 74 for two wickets (Buckle 22, Nicoll 20, not out, and Thompson 19, not out). Hoare bawled best for <ihe Rivals, and Green and Grose for the Midland, who batted two men short in their first venture.

In the match Linwood v United, the latter made 145 (Vemon 38, Cook 31, Baker 19, not out, Louieson 16, Talbot 13). West for Linwood got nine wickets for 72. Linwood made 86 (Edmonds 30, not out, and Milla 27). Vemon got five wickete for 12. United, in their second innings scored 24 for no wickete (Cook 12, not out, Irwin 9, not out).
