MAJOR TAYLOR IN AUSTRALIA.

At the cycling carnival, in nine race for the League Cup, Major Taylor failed to win his heat, McDonald with a splendid sprint beating him by a length. The final resulted:—Don Walker 1, McDonald 2, Morgan 3. A few inches separated them. Time, 2min Ssec.
In the First-olass Handicap Pye (40yds) defeated Walker by five yarde. Time, 49 2-sth ccc. Pye, off ihe came mark, defeated Taylor when qualifying in hie heat
