MEETINGS, ENTERTAINMENTS, dc.

An evening party was given to Miss E. Maydwell in the Congregational Schoolroom on January 7th (> when between 40 and 50 of her friends assembled, and presented her with tokens of their esteem. Dancing was kept up till an early hour in the morning, and after an enjoyable supper had been spent, cheers were given for Miss MaydwelL At the Trafalgar Lodge ,of Druids, Kaiapoi, on Tuesday evening the amount of £22 3e 6d was paid by Bro. F. G. Hempleman, as treasurer. The amount of £17 10a was in the moneys stolen from Egan's brewery strong room at the time of the burglary. A vote of sympathy with Bro. Hempleman was passed by the members present. The annual meeting of the Tai Tapu Methodist Sunday School was held on Monday evening, the chair being occupied by the Rev. J. J. Mather. The financial statement showed a credit balance of £8 18s 9d. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: —Superintendent, Mr H- E. Perymon; secretary, Mr T. O. Morgan; treasurer, Mr Jas. Leney; organist, Miss Morgan; precentor, Mr j. F. Watson; librarian, Mr W. L. Morgan; auditor, Mr J. Voss; tablet examiner, Mrs T. 0. Morgan; representatives to Sunday Schoo. Union, Messrs H. Parrett and J. Leney. At a meeting of the vestry of St. Saviour's Church, West Lyttelton, held on Wednesday, it was reported that, the bazaar, in aid of the building fund of the Sunday School, had realised the handsome amount of £281, whilst the expenses had been about £15. Letters of thanks are to be sent to the ladies who assisted at the bazaar, and to Mr W. Inrman, cf the Gothic, who gave valuable services towards the decoration of the building, etc.

Bro. W. C Cleary was installed as Worshipful Master of the Lodge of Unanimity, No. 3, Lyttelton, last night, in tie presence of a large Catherine of members of the craft, fhe*T3rand Master, Bro. Williams, was the installing officer.
