A suggestion, that a bye meeting be held was favourably discussed, and it was decided to endeavour to secure the visit of Major Taylor during his New Zealand tour. A jetter signed by 27 runners at the late, gathering was received, stating that they would not compete at any future meetings it the present handicapper were retained. The directors protested against such a letter, and decided to simply "receive." It is said to have been prompted by a trainer and non-competitor.
