WELLINGTON NOTES.
(special to "the riucss.")
WELLINGTON, January 14.
It is stated here that in order to prevent a recurrence of an outbreak of anthrax in Southland, the Government has decided to erect a plant at the Bluff for sterilising imported bones and bone dust.
The vexed question of the size of grain sacks remains undecided. The latest announcement on the subject is that the Railway Department finds there m. great diversity of opinion as to the erize of grain sacks which will commend itself to grain dealers, and *t> the same time meet the representations of workers, who have urged the 2401b sacks caused serious injury to the men engaged in handling them. If the Department decides upon any alteration in the ehse of the sacks, it will give the public twelve months' notice, so as to enable stocks to be worked off.
