CANTERBURY TRADES' AND LABOUR COUNCIL.
At a meeting of the Trades' and Labour Council, a letter was read from the Dunedin Trades' Council re the "National Organiser,' stating that the Trades' Councils of Auckland, Wellington, WedMand, Dunedin, and Christohurcih 'had endorsed the proposal, and aeked the Council to take a plebiscite of tne unions. The secretary was instructed to write to the unions giving two months in which to reply. The elections of delegates for 'the annual conferenoe resulted in the selection of Messrs Buebridge, Taylor, and McCuJlough. The Executive reported having approached the Minister re the Timaru dispute, which had, however, been settled by the mea going back to work. The brickmakers had asked for advice re one of its members. The question of en orcganiser for country workera was recommended to stand over till more definite information could be procured. The report was adopted, and tlhe following resolution w»s aixried: —"The Canterbury Trades' and Labour Council view "with pleasure the action of the local bodies in taking) a vote on the Greater Christcburch question, Mni consider they deserve the tHanks of all sections of the community."
