The second wool sale commented to-day. | The catalogue embraced 4228 bales, which is considerably in excess of the quantity put forward at. the previous sale, l'rioes, compared with the last sale, show an ailround advance of a farthing, while better grown wool shows aa improvement of a halfpenny. Halfbred realised s|d to 81d, fine crossbreds 53d to . 7d, coarse and medium crossbred 4£d to sid, log stained and eotts 4d to 4id, pieces to 4d, bellies* up to 4fd. One lot of merino not catalogued realised ninepenoe. The competition was keen throughout. TIMARU WOOL SALE. At the wool sale held in Timaru yesterday 8776 bales were offered. There was a #ood attendance of buyers, Home and colonial mills being represented. Prices obtained were not so good as those ruling at the first sale of the season in Timaru, the demand for fine wools having eased back, wliile coarse wools were more in demand than has been the case for years. The best prices obtained were 10£ d for merino, 10d for halfbred, 9id for quarterback, 7id far tlinee-quaiter-bred, and 6id for crossbred. Compared with last sale these prieee show a falling off of %d per lb in merino, and of in halfbred, -while three-quarter-bred shows an advance of from to 3d per lb. RANGIORA. At the sales on Tuesday there was a goo *. attendance of buyers. In the Central Yards there was an entry of 2500 sheep, 100 cattle, and l 80 pigs. Prices were: —Pat lambs 14s 6d, fat ewes 12s Qd to 16s, two and fourtooifch wethers 17s, fat hoggets to 14s 6d, Store lambs 8s to 11s 7d, ewa* acd lambs 7s to 9s 6d, do in wool to 12s 6d, two and four-tooth mixe.l 14s 6d to 15s 2d. Cattle—Beef equal to 29s per 1001b, fat steers to £8 2s 6d, heifers to £7 10s, young cattle £2 to £3 12s 6d\ milch cows £7 to £9 2s 6d, aged do £2 to £5. Prices were: —Fat lambs 13s to 14s, forward stores 10s 2J to 11s 6d, fat. -wethers 17s 6d to 18s 6d, forward wethers 14s 6d to 15s 7d, twotwth store wethers 11s 10d to 14s, 2000 two-tooth ewoe 15s 3d, fat ewes 16s 2d to j 17s 9d. A line of 1338 from Culverden sold I at 14s 7d, and 587 wetkera from the eama ! estate 18a 7d, fat three-quorterbred wethera 17s Bd, six-tcotih haltbitd ewes 15s. j TINWALD. At the Tinwald yards on Tuesday there was a larger yarding than usual, and a good attendance of buyers. Prices were: Store cattle —Dry cows £4 10s to £7, springers £3 5s to £7, dry cows £3 to £4. Fat cattle—Cows £5 5s to £9 ss, heifers £5 17s 6d to £6 10s, steers £7 5s to £10 ss. Fat sheep—Crossbred ewes and lambs (all counted) 13s 9d to 17s 6d, merino ewes 7s to 9s, crossbred wether* 16s Id to 20s 9d, lambs 10s 6d to 16s 3d. Store sheep—Two-tooth ewes and : wethers 12s lid to 15g 3d, crossbred ewes and lambs (all counted) 6s 6d to 12s 3d, lambs lls 9d to 14e 3d, merino ewes and lambs (all counted) 6s to 7a 3d, dry ewes 8s Bd.
