General Botha hinted that if the members of tho late Government received an amnesty, perhaps they might give the information. Mr ChambeUain replied that- (some who had been permitted to return to Soutii Africa could give no help. General Smut* wished it to be uuderatoiid that the Boers were not ungrateful for Great Britain's efforts.
