BOWLING.

PENNANT MATCHES.

The first of the pennant matches which are in course of being played by the affiliated Bowling Clubs in the Canterbury district, was commenced on Saturday, on the green of the Christehurch Club, between three rinks of the Christehurch and Canterbury Bowling Clubs. The heavy rain, however, which came on in the after, noon, broke up the match, which waa abandoned, and will be begun de novo.

The state of tho scores at the time of the cessation of play was as follows: —

Raphael. <S. Manning, H. Jackson (ski>), 15. Caj-terhury: D. Neavei Hoffmann, Munro, J. __£. Taylor (skip), 11. No. 3 Rink—Uhriatohuroh: T. Joynt, a. Louisson, Vf. Barnett, A. V. B. Bishop (skic^ 16. Cantetihury: J. Thompson, W. Jacques, P. J. Barlow (skip), 10.

The grand totals at the conclusion were Christchuroh 60. Canterbury .31. As one of the conditions of the pennant competition is that a match must be fini_bed the day it is begun, the above match will have to be played over again after the tourn_ment.
