THE PERIL OF KINGS.
LUNATIC FIRES AT KING ALFONSO.
United Press Association—By Elsctrio Telegraph—Copyright (Reoeived January 12th, 12.52 a.m.) MADRID, January 11. As King Alfonso and his mother, Queen Christina, were returning from church in Madrid on Saturday evening, a man named Feito fired a pistol at their carriage. Nobody was injured. Hearing the report the King put his head out of the window, but Queen Christina pulled him back. Feito when arrested declared that he meant to kill the Duke of Sotomayor, the Grand Chamberlain, whose carriage preceded that of the King. Letters addressed to President Roosevelt, King Edward, the Kaiser, and the Czar were found in his pockets. The man denies he is an anarchist. He admits that he was once in a lunatic asylum, and is clearly insane.
