MR N. MARTIN.O
We regret to record the sudden death, early on Saturday moming, after a few days' illness, of Mr Nicholas Martin, of Holly Road, St. Albans. For the past thirty-six years Mr Martin held a position of trust in connecti.-' with the business carried on by Mr James • Goss, and his sterling worth and integrity of character won Mm the oonfidtaMe both of his. employer end his feUoW'«mployees. The esteem in which he was held was shown by the fact that his judgment and opinion were sought by riiany, and his conscientiousness and __ind__ess were well known. Many who have benefited by hi. generous assistance Will feel his loss deeply. Mr Martin took a duep interest in church matters, and was a trustee and official and consistent worker. Mr Martin was a native of Guernsey, and was born in 1837. He came to this colony in the ship Isabella Hercua in 1855, returning shortly afterwards to his native place, where he married Mfss Julia de Garis, with whom ho returned to Lytts-ton in December, 1853, by the Regina. Mis Martin survives her" husband, with her two sons and a daughter, Mrs T. Rutland, of Melbourne.
