THE ADVANCE OF THE MOTOR CAR.
A DRIVE TO DYER'S PASS
Tlie negotiation of the hills by motor car service is one of the advances which are being made in connection with the developments now taking place. Yesterday, at tbe invitation of Mr H. J. Ranger, the local agent for the Argyll 8-h.p. car, a member of the staff of "The Press" essayed a trip to the top of Dyer's Pass. Mr Hankinson drove the car, and showed admirable power of steering clear of the boulders which beset the road to the fop of the Pass. The car, which is, as already stated, 8 h.p., is run by petrol, the engine being fitted with the Sims Bosch ignition. There is little or no vibration, and the engi_l is practically noiseless. The car went up the steep pinches with but little exertion, and there was an entire absence of noise. The trip throughout was most enjoyable, the car working excellently. The" great point beyond the noiselessness and the absolute control was the quickness with which the car, though travelling at a high rate of speed, iras brought to a standstill. This was demonstrated several times during the trip, when carts, etc., came in the way.
