UNITED v LANCASTER PARK.

The U.C.C., with eight pickets down for 223, continued with Hannan and Harper. The latter knocked up 10 quickly, and Williams hit lustily for a dozen, leaving Harman not out with a nicely played 14, the innings thus closing for 260. A. E. Ridley and Totman opened the Park innings, but the latter was bowled without scoring. Wilding followed, but with the score at 25 lost Ridley, who was well taken at forward cover. Wilding soon followed him. Bennett was partnered by C. Riaiey, and the former piled on the'runs by fine hitting. Ridley left at 57, and Pavitt did likewise, and as Orchard and Bates both left quickly, and seven were out for 86, the chance of saving the follow on looked remote. However Bennett was joined by his skipper, and the score was taken to 146 before Frankish got one past Bennett. The latter well deserved the applause that greeted him on his returning, for although his defence was none too strong, he had made his runs by clean and sweet hitting, and at a time "when they were badly wanted. Boxshall shared the honours with Bennett, making his runs chiefly by beautiful leg hitting. A useful and nicely played 20 by North, and the innings closed for 192. Frankish was in his best form with the ball, clean bowling most of the victims. The U.C.C. fielding was fairly good, though at times rather uneven. With nearly hah , an hour to bat, the Red and Black added 30 on to their lead without the loss of a wicket. Messrs Phillips and Gerard again umpired. The following are the scores: —
