NOTES AND MEMORANDA.
The opening sale of the local series of wool sales will take place on November 3rd. The catalogues close on October 31st. The railway arrangements in connection with the excursion to Ashburton Show appear elsewhere. The session of the Anglican Synod will be resumed at the College Library to-day, at four o'clock. .
Entries for the Pioneer Bicycle Club's electrio light meeting, which takes place on November 9th and 11th, will close with Mr R. D. Duncan, the secretary, at the Club rooms, Cathedral square, this evening, at 10 o'clock.'
Two agricultural shows will be held during the week, those of the Timaru Agricultural and Pastoral Association and the Ashburton. The first take* place on Tuesday and the second on Friday. ' The tenders for the privileges of luncheon booths, Ac., in connection with the Metropolitan Show, close at noon to-day with the secretary. A meeting of butchers will be held this evening at the City Hotel with reference to the question of compensation for beasts destroyed after condemnation by the Inspector. The ordinary meeting of the City Council takes place to-night.
