WOOLSTON.
A special meeting of the Council was held on Wednesday last. Present—His Worship the Mayor, Crs. Anderson, Hobson, —alne, Colwill, Gimblett, Thomas and Lord. The Mayor explained that, in conformity with a resolutioa of the Council passed at the last regular meeting, he had convened the pre : sent special meeting, to consider, and, if found advisable, amend the borough by-laws. He instanced the importance of amending the by-laws as .regards the erection of buildings in particular. He did not consider them at all adequate under the present circumstances of" the borough. The councillors, after some conversation, concurred in that opinion, and on the motion of Crs. Milne and Lord the Council went into committee to consider the by-laws generally. After a prolonged discussion it was found that time did not admit of finishing the business in one sitting, and it was resolved to hold another special meeting on an early date for further consideration. The meeting then adjourned.
