Wallace has advanced for the Derby, and the best offer against the son of Carbine for the blue riband is 6 to 4, and for the Melbourne Cup 100 to 7. For the __elbourne Cup 2000 to 100 has been taken about Elswick, 1000 to 40 Taranaki, 2000 to 60 Rewi. Later. At Caulfield this morning The Possible beat Boonie Scotland by two lengths over a mile and a half ia 2;nin 46.cc. Elswick and Barrabari finished a mile and a quarter together in 2min 16} sec. Damper, with her shoes off, took 2min 16se_ over a like distance. St. David was indulged in threequarter pace work. At Flemington, O-culator, keeping on the outside of the tau all the way round, galloped one mile and a half in excellent style, the time for the middle mile being lmin 50] .ec, Flintlock brought him home the last five furlongs, Osculator finishing gamely. During the last half mile he was under punishment. Betting during the day has been dull. Trenchant is receiving further support for the Cauifield Cup at 100 to 8 ; 2000 to 60 i. taken about Newman.
