Waimana Institute
The attendance was good at the meeting of the Waimana Women’s Institute. The display of flowers was excellent. Birthday sprays were presented to members. During the exchange of Christmas gifts, carols were played by Mrs King.
Mrs Woolfield gave a talk on scent factories in Cannes and Greece. A mannequin parade . was presented by members who had taken dressmaking lessons from the tutor. Miss Flower.
Miss Flower was presented with a gift and a floral Bon Bon, in appreciation. A Christmas cake donated by Mrs Potter for competition, was won by Mrs Dick Boynton. The judges for the day were Mrs R. Macdonald and Miss Flower. Results of the competitions were:—
Best vegetable, Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs -J. McLean 2, Mrs C. N. White 3; best single flower, Mrs Sterling 1, Miss Stevens 2, Mrs White 3; best multiple flower, Miss Stevens 1, Mrs White 2, Mrs Hewitt 3; chocolate sandwich, Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs Rust 2, Mrs F. Bell 3; decorated table centrepiece, Mrs L. McDonald 1, Mrs Bell 2, Mrs Hewitt 3; machined apron, Mrs Hewitt 1, Miss J. Wylde 2, Mrs Hodgson 3. The president, Mrs Hewitt, thanked all who had helped with the meetings during the past year.
