Awakeri Teacher Is Farewelled
At the Awakeri School on Thursday evening, 70 P.T.A. members and friends farewelled the headmaster, Mr Anderson and Mrs Anderson, who are leaving the district. After a programme of entertainment, Mr Worrell, the president of the Parent-Teachers’ Association, thanked Mr and Mrs Anderson and presented to them a gift on behalf of members. Mrs Anderson was also presented with a bunch of flowers. Mr Anderson thanked those present and his friends for this mark of appreciation, and expressed his deep appreciation to all those who had been kind to them during their four years in Awakeri. After thanking members of the staff for their co-operation, the headmaster explained how he had strived for and achieved a friendly atmosphere in the school. On behalf of teachers in the district the headmaster of Edgecumbe School outlined Mr Anderson’s special abilities as a teacher. Those present felt that Awakeri was losing an excellent teacher who had done much for the school.
