Boys’ Brigade Finishes Its Year
About 90 boys and parents met in the Knox Church Hall for the final meeting of the year of the Boys’ Brigade. Whakatane Company. The Mayor, Mr S. S. Shapley, attended his first public function sinde his election, and Mrs Shapley was present. After inspecting the Company Mr Shapley presented the badges and certificates won by the boys during the past year. A total of 62 badges and 56 certificates was won for the year ended November 30. Private G. Hogg presented Mrs Shapley with a sheaf of flowers. The Mayor* was introduced by Captain Fergusson. After congratulating the boys he wished them a successful time in their camp at Waipara. The Mayor congratulated Captain Fergusson on the bearing of the Company. Rev. R. T. Dodds, president of the Ministers’ Association, thanked Mr Shapley for his attendance and the carrying out of his duties for the evening. Final instructions were given to the 26 boys who will be attending the Silver Jubilee 8.8. camp at Waipara.
