Market Strong At Te Teko
At the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency’s fortnightly sale held at Te Teko yards on Monday, prices in all sections of stock offered again reached very high levels.
In the cattle section, fat jersey cattle were in very keen demand and values both here and in the paddock and cull cow lines were in excess of the high rates obtaining at recent fixtures.
There was a full clearance of the 280 pigs offered and prices realised in this section were advanced on the high rates obtained at the previous fixture. Weaner and store pigs Were in very keen demand, whilst pork and baconers sold on a strong market. Prices realised were:—
Fat Jersey cows, £lO 10s to £lB 7s 6d; heavy culls, £7 5s to £lO ss; cull cows, £4 to £7; paddock cows, £7 10s to £10; 2-year service bulls, £l3 to £26; yearling service bulls. £lO to £l4.
Pigs: Baconers, £5 11s to £7 4s; stores, £4 15s to £5 14s; slips, £3 5s to £4 10s; weaners, £2 6s to £4; maiden sows, £l4.
