TOMORROW WILL BE DAY FOR ELECTIONS

With interest high, tomorrow is likely to be a bright election day. Polling will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Borough polling places are the Council offices and the Caledonian Hall. County votes will be cast at the County office and at: Matata riding, Public Hall, Manawahe; Public School, Matata; Public School, Te Teko. Ohope riding, Captain’s Cabin, Ohope. Tarawera riding, Public School, Te Teko; Union Bank Agency Premises, Edgecumbe; Public School, Thornton; Public School, Otakiri. Townspeople will vote for a Mayor and nine Councillors and for two Hospital Board members. These ai-e the candidates:— For Mayor: H. G. Warren and S. S. Shapley. For the Council: A. J. Atkinson, R. S. Buttimore, R. Cobbe, H. G. Cutler, A. Hall, W. S. Henderson, E. R. Hunt, K. Jarrett, A. G. Judd, K. A. Needham, A. D. O’Rourke, J. N.S. Patterson, J. W. G. Smith, L. R. Spring, G. L. Washer, C. R. Whittle, Mrs J. E. Winstone. Hospital Board: L. Buddie, Mrs D. Petty, C. A. Suckling. In the County County elections will be held in the ridings. Two members must be found for Tarawera riding and one each for Matata and Ohope. An election is necessary to choose one Matata riding member of the Tauranga Harbour Board. The candidates:— Matata Riding: K. L. Caverhill, C. R. J. Relf. Ohope Riding: W. M. Clark, P. H. G. Parr. Tarawera Riding: G. E. King, C. A. Le Lievre, R. C. Leslie, O. V. Marx, C. T. Smith. Tauranga Harbour Board (Matata riding): C. R. J. Relf, I. M. Withy.
