CHAMPIONSHIP HILL CLIMB TOMORROW
The New Zealand motor cycle championship road hill climb will be held on Hillcrest road tomorrow. The event is sponsored by the Bay of Plenty Motor Cycle Club. An open handicap event will be held over the same course. The course will be from C.L.C, Motors Ltd. to the top of the hill, just past Mr C. R. Whittle’s residence. The all-bitumen surface is expected to result in fast times. Complete safety arrangements have been made by the club and local authorities. There will be hay bales, radio teelphones, field telephones, police, traffic inspectors, Legion of Frontiersmen and St John Ambulance, as well as 25 club officials.
Residents* will be allowed to go up or down the hill between events, A free bus will help them. All cars, during these periods, will be escorted.
A loud speaker system will relay events continuously. The championship event will be broadcast. Refreshments will be available. Riders will include such local men as B. Woods, H. Lowe, C. Goodwin, L. Simpson, J. Haeusler, T. Woods, etc. while from away there will be L. Perry, B. Grey, D. Dean. Also S. Jenson and G. Hitchman are expected to be riding as well as several past' entrants. The club will finish the day off with a dance at the King Street Hall in the evening.
